Use CallUpOnIt with an agent

Looking for examples and a simpler introduction? Start with the AI agent overview, or see guides for ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.

Connect an agent to your CallUpOnIt account so it can text you or schedule a reminder when you ask. The agent can only use your verified phone number and email. It cannot send to an arbitrary recipient.

New to CallUpOnIt? Your agent can start the connection. You verify your phone with a one-time code, choose a package or subscription, save our contact card, and approve the agent. You can revoke access later in Messaging preferences.

Building an agent directory or integration? The remote MCP endpoint is https://calluponit.com/mcp. Its tools expose account status, immediate messaging, scheduling, delivery status, media, call voices, and checkout links. See the short machine-readable service summary for links and connection facts.

Get started with your agent

  1. In an agent that supports remote MCP connections, add https://calluponit.com/mcp as a new connector. Your agent will open a CallUpOnIt connection page.
  2. Enter your phone number and verify the code sent by SMS or WhatsApp. If you already have an account, use the same number.
  3. Choose a credit package or monthly subscription before your first delivery. Payment is completed by you on Stripe Checkout.
  4. Download the CallUpOnIt contact card and save it to your phone so you recognize our messages and calls.
  5. Review the agent’s access and select “Allow and return to agent.” Then try “Text me an interesting fact” or “Call me tomorrow at 8 AM to remind me to leave.”

Only destinations you have verified and enabled can receive messages. SMS reminders require separate consent. You can use WhatsApp, email, calls, voice choices, links, images, and PDFs where those channels support them. The agent reports a request as queued until delivery status confirms the outcome.

Payment flow

  1. The agent checks your credits and subscription with account_status.
  2. If you need to pay, the agent requests a checkout link and shows you the selected product and price. You open Stripe Checkout and complete payment yourself.
  3. After Stripe confirms payment, CallUpOnIt adds credits or activates the subscription. The agent checks your account again, then schedules your reminder.

A delivery needs available credits or an active subscription. A credit is charged when a reminder is delivered, including each recurring occurrence. If funding expires before delivery, the reminder pauses.

Connect a local MCP agent with an API key

If your agent does not support remote OAuth MCP, create an agent key in Messaging preferences. Keep it private and revoke it there when you no longer use it.

The CallUpOnIt repository includes a local MCP server in agent/mcp. Install its dependencies with npm install --prefix agent/mcp, then configure your MCP client to run node /absolute/path/to/calluponit/agent/mcp/server.mjs with CALLUPONIT_API_KEY set to your key. For a development server, set CALLUPONIT_BASE_URL to your local URL. In Codex, add it under Settings → MCP servers and restart.

The tools are account_status, text_me, message_me, upload_media, list_voices, set_default_voice, schedule_reminder, edit_reminder, list_reminders, reminder_status, cancel_reminder, and create_checkout_link. Immediate requests are queued for the next delivery window; use reminder_status for the send outcome.

REST API

Send Authorization: Bearer YOUR_AGENT_KEY. Agent keys only work on the endpoints below. Scheduling, immediate texts and checkout requests require an Idempotency-Key header of 8–128 letters, digits, underscores or hyphens. Reuse the same value when retrying the same request.

MethodPathPurpose
GET/api/v1/accountBalance, subscription, verified channels, consent and product options
POST/api/v1/textsQueue a text to the account’s verified phone
POST/api/v1/deliveriesQueue SMS, WhatsApp, email or a voice call
POST/api/v1/mediaUpload an owned photo or PDF for a message
GET / PUT/api/v1/voicesList call voices or change the default voice
GET / POST/api/v1/remindersList or schedule reminders
GET / PUT / DELETE/api/v1/reminders/{id}Check, edit or cancel a pending reminder
POST/api/v1/billing/checkoutGet a Stripe checkout link for the customer

POST /api/v1/texts accepts {"messageBody":"Your text"}. POST /api/v1/deliveries also accepts channels from sms, whatsapp, email, and voice. POST /api/v1/reminders accepts messageBody, channels, localDateTime in YYYY-MM-DDTHH:mm form, an IANA timezone, and recurrence with type once, daily, weekly or monthly. Weekly needs weekday (Sunday = 0); monthly needs monthlyOption, and specific also needs monthlyDate.

POST /api/v1/billing/checkout accepts productType: just-once, pack-10 or monthly. It returns a Stripe URL; creating it does not charge the customer. An unfunded scheduling request returns HTTP 402 with the billing page URL. Agent scheduling is limited to 30 new reminders per account per UTC day.

To send a photo or PDF, upload its raw bytes to POST /api/v1/media with the file MIME type and URL-encoded X-File-Name header. The response contains an attachment.id. Pass up to 10 IDs as attachmentIds in a text, delivery or reminder request. Uploads accept JPG, PNG, WebP and PDF files up to 30 MB; photos are optimized for delivery. Voice calls read text only, so include SMS, WhatsApp or email to deliver attachments.

Messages and reminders can include up to five links with a URL and optional title. A voice call can use a supported voiceId; GET /api/v1/voices lists choices and previews, and PUT /api/v1/voices with {"defaultVoiceId":"joanna"} changes the default for future calls. PUT /api/v1/reminders/{id} replaces all fields of a pending reminder, including voice, attachments and schedule.
